6th Grade Thoughts on … “Golden Time”

EDITOR’S NOTE: There is a character in this film whose identity is ambiguous. It most likely is either a stuffed cat or a toy rabbit. The students have created a portmanteau (look it up!) to identify this indelible character: CABBIT.

“Golden Time” is a movie that I think teaches a lesson.  This isn’t a lesson that everyone says but the lesson I got out of this was, be grateful for what you have.  During the movie the TV has friends that are there for him who don’t want him to be upset or leave.  He keeps trying and trying to escape and the cat makes sure he doesn’t every time because it wants him to stay.  When the TV finally gets to leave he wants out of the truck.  He realizes that where he was before was home.  He wants to be a TV not chicken coop.  He gets upset and so do the other characters because he left.  But he noticed that he didn’t want to leave; he loved where he was.  Moral of the story: be grateful for what you have; you never know what is going to happen.  If you want something and you get it, it could be bad or good.  The TV’s outcome was both scenarios  he wasn’t used as a TV and he had to leave his friends.  But he did get watched by the kids when the chickens would lay eggs.  — HJ

“Golden Time” is an astonishing movie. I love how the movie has no talking. It really makes you have to pay attention. So whenever something important happens and if you are not paying attention you won’t notice it. This is kinda like a lesson you will never know some things if you never pay attention. These reasons can really show why “Golden Time” is an astonishing movie. — KM

In my opinion, the main character should be the Cabbit. The Cabbit is the best character because it could be a good character or a bad character. It tried to stop the TV from committing suicide, even if it sacrificed its own life in the process. But, even when the TV spent days trying to revive the cabbit, it still laughed at the TV when stuff fell out of it. — HC

The “GOLDEN TIME” is a good movie in my opinion. because it is sad and happy with all other emotions. And it is goofy but it still has a lot of emotion. Some of the characters are confusing like the cat. — TG

In the short film Golden Time, I thought the Cabbit was rude and nice in certain ways. He was rude because he was laughing at the TV when his parts were falling off. He was nice when he was pulling the TV away from hitting his head and pulling him away from the big magnet taking junk. The TV and Cabbit had some bonds when the TV was saving the Cabbit when the Cabbit lost his windup part for his back. At first, I thought they were scared of each other but now, I think they are both nice and rude to each other. - JE
